Highlights of POSITIVE
The first workshop of POSITIVE was organised as an open meeting of scientists working in the field of phenology. In conjunction with the International Society of Biometeorology and the yearly meeting of central European phenologists of different national weather services, the Chair of Bioclimatology of the Technische Universität München organised the International Conference 'Progress in Phenology - Monitoring, Data, Analysis, and Global Change Impacts'. This conference was held from Oct 4-6, 2000, at Freising, Germany. All totalled, there were 70 participants from 21 countries representing all fields of phenology (plants, animals, modelling, global change impacts).
The University of Tartu gained access to phenological data from the Post Soviet States. Data has been collected from the archive of the phenological department of Russian Geographical Society in Sankt-Petersburg and Moscow. Russian phenological time series are often very long and contain many observed phases of natural and cultural plants, insects, birds, and agricultural works.

The Université de Montpllier II developed PPF (POSITIVE Pollen Forecast) which is a Windows® based software. It allows predictions of pollen concentration curves at any location for the current tree and herbaceous taxa which have been studied by POSITIVE. Daily mean temperatures as well as temperature forecast are needed as input. This prediction tool will be available for physicians and allergists from the POSITIVE web-site soon.
