Partner 12: ETHZ - ETH Zurich, Atmospheric Physics
Principal investigator: Huw C. Davies
The Institute for Atmospheric Science of the ETHZ has a profound
experience in the Lagrangian analysis of mid-latitude weather
systems and associated phenomena. Research on themes related to
this proposal includes studies on:
· Identification of coherent flow structures (dry intrusions,
moist ascending airstreams) associated with extratropical cyclones.
· Identification of STE events, estimation of the associated
trans-tropopause mass flux and investigation of the involved mesoscale
processes at the tropopause level.
· Lagrangian interpretation of chemical measurements in
the tropopause region and the atmospheric boundary layer.
· Influence of tropopause structures on Alpine weather
phenomena.
One full professor, one senior scientist and a post-doc will contribute
to STACCATO.
